Organizing a Denny Taylor Gentle Solutions Horsemanship Clinic
The following overview outlines the basic requirements to organize a successful clinic. The information listed will help you determine the format that best fits your group and understand the steps to building a successful clinic. To book a clinic, we require a minimum of six riders with deposits.
Building The Bond
Between Horse and Rider
- For the maximum exposure and participation, plan a 4 to 6 month or more lead time. This insures adequate promotion and advertising time. If you have 8 committed riders, you can cut back on lead time, or do a private clinic.
- Research other major community activities and equine events so as not to conflict with scheduling.
- Consider weather patterns in your area. An indoor facility expands your choices.
- Indoor or covered arena to eliminate the risk of cancellation due to weather. Outdoor arena can be a consideration based on time of year. Ideal is outdoor arena with an indoor back-up.
- Centrally located to major highway and equine communities.
- Large enough to accommodate horses and riders. We recommend a minimum of 20' diameter for each horse.
Example: 60' X 100' arena should accommodate 12 horses.
- Seating area for auditors, such as existing bleachers or areas on the sides of arena to accommodate chairs.
- Overnight boarding for horses (per diem to facility).
- Overnight camping or cabins for riders. Motels close by.
- Restrooms or rental of porta-potty available.
- Adequate parking for trailers and auditors.
- Sound system or adequate electrical for our sound system.
- 2 to 4 volunteers to assist with distribution of marketing materials and parking. No charge to audit clinic.
